Dearest, sweet sister friend Jane, our Jeanette, my sister from mama Fondja. I could write a whole book about our lives together; our younger years, high school years, the college years, our lives in America, our lives in Kumba, our lives in Yaounde and our lives in these last years of your battle with cancer. I actually could write thousands of books but instead, I will share Matthew 5:14-16 from the Holy Bible that speaks to me about your person, your character, your life.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
As you approached the last days on this earth, I am also reminded of Job 13: 15a that says:
Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
And trust Him you did. You were unwavering before God; you blessed Him in everything, and whatever you did, you did as unto Him. You did let your light so shine, breaking the darkness and revealing God to us through your good works. Now it’s up to each of us, through the revelation of your good works, to glorify our God and Father in Heaven. What a testimony and encouragement for the rest of us! I feel like you were the Job of our time, that satan met with God and bargained to put you to the test.
I see you all around me. I see your smile and hear your voice. I hear your caution as I chug down water. Hey Jane, chofia? I have been waiting for your phone calls and messages since May 11, 2022. They stopped coming. It sure would be good to hear from you and read from you just one more time. Enjoy your heavenly bliss and let God know that He has shaken me up by taking you so soon from us.
I love you so much, more than I can ever really express.
